Music

There is a proud history of music in Caherea and it is wonderful to see it continue to blossom in the school. The children perform at various times during the year including school assemblies, the sacraments, the Christmas concert and graduation. Students from 1st-6th are all learning a variety of instruments from fiddle, concertina, keyboard, banjo, mandolin, tin whistle to guitar. Thanks to The Creative Schools initiative, funding has been provided which we have purchased instruments with. Children in 5th and 6th class have the opportunity to use and learn these instruments as part of the Music Curriculum. The music they create is a real treat for everyone in the school community.

Singing is also an important element of our life in the school. The children sing together daily and perform regularly at school events. Choral singing is such a soul-enriching activity and it helps boost the morale of everyone in the school. Recently, the pupils have written and performed their own songs on Clare FM and on the stage at Glór.
